NOVEMBER 2026 NEWSLETTER

Featured this month:  The Suffering Church & Holy Souls

Dear Readers,

November draws the whole Church into the mystery of eternal life: the Saints rejoice before the throne of God, while the Holy Souls await the fullness of the heavenly vision and depend upon our loving prayers.

Guided by Our Lady of Fatima, let us offer our Rosaries, sacrifices and acts of reparation for them, honour Christ our King, and enter Advent with hearts purified and ready for the coming of the Lord.

May the Immaculate Heart of Mary be our refuge and our sure path to God, teaching us to watch, pray and wait in sacred stillness for the light of Christ.

REFLECTIONS FROM OUR NEW NATIONAL SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR

November: A Time to Remember and Pray for Our Loved Ones

November holds a special place in the heart of the Church as the Month of the Holy Souls. It is a time when we lovingly remember those who have gone before us, giving thanks for their lives and praying that they may rest in the eternal peace and light of Christ.

As we gather for the AGM Symposia Weekend, we invite you to share the names of your departed loved ones so that they may be remembered in prayer during this sacred time. Whether they are family members, friends, colleagues, or others who hold a special place in your heart, we would be honoured to include them in our prayers.

Submitted names will be presented at the Holy Mass, where they will be prayed over by the Archbishop during the AGM Symposia Weekend.

If you would like your loved ones to be included, please send their names to  membership@waf-ew.org.uk by 5th of November.

As we remember those we love and miss, may we find comfort in Christ's promise of eternal life and in the communion of saints that unites us in prayer across heaven and earth.

"Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen."

National Spiritual Director, World Apostolate of Fatima England & Wales

 NEWSLETTER CONTENTS

Dear Members, โ€ฏ

On 30 November, we will conclude the centenary celebration of the Five First Saturdays Devotion with a pilgrimage to Westminster Cathedral. Over the course of this special year, we have visited 26 cathedrals and shrines throughout the dioceses of England and Wales. Throughout our Pilgrimage of Hope, we have witnessed a remarkable outpouring of love for Our Blessed Mother and a renewed desire among the faithful to respond generously to her requests at Fatima.

Many pilgrims took the opportunity to be enrolled in and invested with the Brown Scapular, a visible sign of their desire to live in closer union with Christ through the maternal guidance of Mary and in a spirit of consecration to her Immaculate Heart. We pray that these pilgrimages have helped deepen understanding of the Five First Saturdays Devotion, which Our Lady requested as an act of reparation for sins committed against her Immaculate Heart and for the conversion of sinners.

The message of Fatima remains as relevant today as it was in 1917. Through daily prayer, especially the Rosary, frequent reception of the Sacraments, acts of sacrifice offered in a spirit of love, and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we are invited to cooperate in God's plan for the salvation of souls and the triumph of the Immaculate Heart.

As we enter the month dedicated to the Holy Souls, we are reminded of our responsibility to pray for the faithful departed and to commend them to God's infinite mercy. The Five First Saturdays Devotion is a means by which the faithful may respond to this call, offering reparation not only for their own sins but also for the Holy Souls which rely on our acts of sacrifice.

November is also the month of our Annual General Meeting, which this year will be held at Belmont Abbey on Friday, 20 November. This will be followed by two Fatima Symposiums over the subsequent days. The first will take place at Belmont Abbey on Saturday, 21 November, followed by a further symposium in London on Sunday, 22 November.

I warmly encourage you to join us for these inspiring gatherings and to deepen your appreciation of the enduring message of Fatima. We are privileged to welcome two distinguished speakers: Sr Angela de Fátima Coelho, ASM, Vice-Postulator for the Causes of Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto, and Fr Lawrence Lew, O.P., internationally respected preacher, author, photographer, and promoter of Catholic spirituality. Their wisdom and experience will help us reflect more deeply on Our Lady's call to prayer, conversion, reparation, and holiness of life.

As we continue our mission, let us remain faithful to Our Lady's requests, confident that every Rosary prayed, every sacrifice offered in love, and every act of reparation made through the Immaculate Heart draws souls closer to Christ.

The Suffering Church and the Holy Souls๏ปฟ

Article by Fr. Alexander Pumphrey, MIC

In this month’s reflection on The Suffering Church and the Holy Souls, we are invited to deepen our love and prayer for the faithful departed, remembering that through the Communion of Saints, we remain united in Christ beyond the grave. Inspired by Our Lady’s message at Fatima, may we offer our prayers, sacrifices and sufferings for the Holy Souls, helping them on their journey to the joy of Heaven.

May our hearts be moved with compassion for these beloved souls, and may we entrust them to God’s infinite mercy, praying always: Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.

The Suffering Church comprises the holy souls in Purgatory, who undergo their final purification before entering the fullness of heaven. As we commemorate All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day in November, we are called to assist them through the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, prayers, sacrifices, and indulgences. Inspired by Our Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints, may we grow in love and devotion to these holy souls, helping them attain the beatific vision of God.

Fatima in the Religious Marketplace

by Fr. Marcin Budzinski

As we remember the suffering Church and the Holy Souls this November, the message of Fatima reminds us that our prayers, sacrifices and acts of love matter. We are called not merely to remember those who suffer, but to respond through prayer, conversion and a renewed sense of responsibility for the salvation of souls. Fatima awakens us to the seriousness of sin and the power of prayer, while (a district of Kraków, Poland, best known for the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy) reminds us that God’s mercy is greater than sin and that, in Christ, even suffering is embraced by the hope of eternal life.

Our Daily Duties as Little Sacrifices, Great Love: Offering Our Sufferings for the Salvation of Souls

by Fr. Marcin Budzinski

In this reflection on the message of Fatima, we explore the call to make daily sacrifices for the conversion and salvation of sinners, offering even the ordinary difficulties of life for the good of souls. True reparation is neither a rejection of comfort nor a harshness towards ourselves, but an expression of love that transforms our sufferings into gifts for God and for others. In this way, we become little Christs, allowing our daily lives to contribute to the holiness of the Church and the salvation of souls.

REFLECTIONS ON CATHEDRAL & PARISH VISITATIONS

World Apostolate of Fatima England & Wales at Holy Rood Youth

On the First Saturday of October, the parish of Holy Rood, Swindon, welcomed a moment of grace as the National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fàtima and the Relics of Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto visited the community. Rev. Fr Mark Furtado solemnly received, crowned, and blessed both the Statue and the Relics in a church filled with over 200 faithful, all gathered in prayer and devotion.

Promoting the message of Fatima

The statue of Our lady of Fatima was brought by Julia D'Souza who is the custodian of the 3rd statue to promote the World Apostolate of Fatima.๏ปฟ

The pilgrimage statue has been blest and gifted by the Bishops of Fatima, Portugal and gifted to Clifton Diocese to promote rosary in parishes, schools and colleges.

Y10 students gathered in the chapel to pray a decade of the rosary.

Yesterday all around the world children prayed the rosary for peace because yesterday was the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.

World Apostolate of Fatima England & Wales at Cardiff Cathedral - Cadeirlan

The Archdiocese of Cardiff–Menevia is consecrated to the Holy Name of Mary. This profound truth formed a central part of the homily delivered by Archbishop Mark O’Toole during the Solemn Mass on Saturday, 10 October 2026, a celebration marked by grace, reverence, and deep Marian devotion.

“Who does your heart belong to?”

With this striking question, Rev. Fr. Jude Belnas, Parish Priest of St Mary’s, Ipswich, opened the weekend of grace on 17 October 2026, as the National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fàtima began its Centenary Visitation to St John the Baptist Cathedral, Norwich.

๏ปฟWorld Apostolate of Fatima England & Wales at St. Mary's RC Church, Croydon

Fr Leszek Szadowski, Assistant Priest of Our Lady of Reparation, West Croydon, joyfully welcomed the National Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fátima and reverently received the Relics of Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto. During the solemn opening celebrations, he crowned and blessed the Pilgrim Statue and led the parish in a heartfelt renewal of its consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

In his homily, Fr Leszek reflected beautifully on the providential connection between the parish's patronage of Our Lady of Reparation and the Message of Fátima. He reminded the faithful that reparation for the offences committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary lies at the very heart of Our Lady's call at Fátima, encouraging all present to respond generously through prayer, sacrifice, and acts of love.

World Apostolate of Fatima: Its History and Mission

It was a great honour for me to speak to speak at this International Marian Conference in Rome, on 7 and 8 October, about the work of the WAF in promoting the message of Fatima, in the presence of Cardinals Burke and Muller, who both strongly defended Mary’s title as Co-Redemptrix, and ten professors and scholars from Germany, France, England, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Chile, who gave learned talks on different aspects of Mary’s role in our salvation. An estimated 250 people came to the conference, even from as far away as New Zealand, and what follows is a brief summary of my talk.
