The Secret of Fatima

Our Lady at Fatima imparted a three-part secret to the children. These revelations concerning the destiny of humanity deeply impacted the children.

In the first part of the secret  the children were shown a terrifying vision of hell, described as a sea of fire with demons and souls in human form suffering. This was intended to emphasize the reality of sin and its consequences. Our Lady explained that many souls go to hell because there is no one to pray and make sacrifices for them

The second part of the secret  concerned devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Consecration of Russia
Our Lady predicted that World War I would end, but if people did not cease offending God, a worse war (World War II) would break out during the reign of Pope Pius XI. She asked for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart and the establishment of the devotion of the Five First Saturdays, promising that if her requests were heeded, Russia would be converted and there would be peace; if not, Russia would spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church

The vision of Hell

๏ปฟ

“You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end; but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the pontificate of Pius XI. When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that he is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father.

The second part of the secret

“To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays. If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me and she will be converted, and a of peace will be granted to the world.”

The third part of the secret concerns persecutions of the Church and the Holy Father.

This secret, written down by Lucia in 1944 and revealed to the public in 2000, described a symbolic vision of a bishop dressed in white (interpreted as the Holy Father), who is killed along with other bishops, priests, and lay people as they climb a steep mountain. The vision was interpreted as foretelling the suffering and persecution of the Church.

These three parts together form the Secret of Fátima, each emphasizing the importance of prayer, penance, and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the salvation of souls and the peace of the world.

The apparitions concluded with Our Lady teaching the children the prayer of forgiveness normally said at the conclusion of each decade of the Rosary: “O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fire of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of your mercy”.
