Called Home to the Lord: Remembering Our National Spiritual Director

Tribute to Canon Jason Jones, National Spiritual Director of WAF England & Wales

With the unexpected death of our beloved Canon Jason Jones, National Spiritual Director for the World Apostolate of Fatima (England and Wales) on the early hours of Thursday 21 May, we are reminded by Sr Lucia, in her book “Calls”  from the message of Fatima, that as long as we live on this earth, we are pilgrims on the way to heaven. It is in this sense that we remember saintly Fr Jason, who dedicated his life in his priestly ministry, enkindling the growth of faith, hope and charity which is at the centre of the Fatima message. Fr Jason worked tirelessly in helping to grow the Apostolate and will be remembered especially for his devotion to “The Sacred Heart of Jesus and His Divine Mercy” and the “Immaculate Heart of Mary”.

With deep gratitude and sincere affection, our community pays tribute to Canon Jason Jones, whose priestly ministry has been a steady light and a source of profound spiritual nourishment for all who encounter him. As Spiritual Director of our monthly newsletter, Canon Jones has offered far more than guidance; he has offered a shepherd’s heart, a teacher’s clarity, and a disciple’s unwavering love for Christ and His Church.

Canon Jones’ leadership has shaped our publication with a rare blend of theological depth, pastoral sensitivity, and joyful fidelity to the Gospel. His reflections have helped us see the world through the lens of faith; his counsel has grounded us in the Church’s wisdom; and his example has reminded us that holiness is not an abstract ideal but a daily invitation.

Those who know Canon Jones recognise his distinctive gifts:

* A priestly presence that brings comfort, encouragement, and hope.

* A devotion to the Eucharist that inspires deeper reverence in others.

* A love for Our Lady to gently draws hearts closer to her Son, Our Lord's Sacred Heart

* A pastoral generosity that never counts the cost

Through his contributions, Canon Jones has helped form a community of readers who are not only informed but spiritually strengthened. His words have guided us through seasons of joy and challenge, always pointing us back to Christ, the source of all meaning.

Today, we honour not only what Canon Jones has done, but who he is: a faithful priest, a wise teacher, a hospital chaplain, and a humble servant of God’s people. We thank him for the countless unseen sacrifices that sustain his ministry, for the prayers he offers on our behalf, and for the quiet, steady witness of a life given entirely to the Lord and devoted to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

May God, who began this good work in him, now bring Canon Jones into the fullness of His everlasting Grace, Love, Joy, and Divine Mercy. And may Our Lady, whom he loved so dearly, hold him within her Immaculate Heart and lead him safely into the Sacred Heart of Jesus, where the faithful find rest and peace.

Ad multos annos in aeternitate, Canon Jones.

Your ministry was and remains a gift to us all.

Featured this month:  The Immaculate Heart & Devotion

Dear Readers

June invites us to contemplate the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the heart that loved Christ most perfectly and teaches us how to receive Him with purity, devotion, and total surrender. As we celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, Mary leads us to the Eucharistic Heart of her Son, showing us that true devotion always draws us deeper into the mystery of His Body, His Blood, and His redeeming love.

JUNE – IMMACULATE HEART & DEVOTIONS

The Immaculate Heart of Mary reveals the perfect human response to God: A heart entirely shaped by divine love and wholly united to His will. In contemplating her Heart, we see both the fulfilment of the Gospel and the destiny God desires for every one of His children.

 NEWSLETTER CONTENTS

Dear Members,

In this month’s newsletter, we reflect on Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart, first revealed to the three Fatima seers in June 1917. Our Holy Mother’s heart is full of love and grace, yet it is also afflicted by profound sorrow as she bore witness to the sacrifice of her Son, Jesus, during His passion and death.

  • Saint Antoninus reminds us: “Whilst other martyrs suffered by sacrificing their own lives, the Blessed Virgin suffered by sacrificing her Son’s life—a life she loved far more than her own.”  (St Alphonsus Liguori – The Glories of Mary P.399)
  • Saint Lawrence Justinian shared that Mary’s heart became “a mirror of the passion of her Son, in which might be seen, faithfully reflected, the spitting, the blows and wounds, and all that Jesus suffered.”  (St Alphonsus Liguori – The Glories of Mary P.399)

Please contemplate these words and discern with renewed energy your devotion to our Holy Mother, as requested by Jesus in the First Saturday Devotion

Corpus Christi (7 June); Formed by the Eucharist, led by the Immaculate Heart and the teachings of St Peter and St Paul (29 June)  by J. Cinta

The Corpus Christi Solemnity established in the 13th century after the visions of St Juliana of Liege, was instituted to deepen the Church’s public devotion to the Real Presence in Christ in the Eucharist. Born from a desire to affirm this mystery with clarity and joy, the feast invites the faithful to celebrate how Christ’s abiding presence continues to shape and sustain the life of the Church.

‘Behold Your Mother’: The Church Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary (13 June)  by Sr. Mary Gonçalves F.D.C.

Devotion is one of the Church’s most beautiful expressions of love.  It is a heartfelt way Christians draw closer to God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Saints. In this reflection, Sr. Mary Gonçalves F.D.C. helps us explore why the Church holds deep devotion to Our Blessed Mother and how the Immaculate Heart of Mary continues to guide believers toward her Son.

๏ปฟSolemnity of the Nativity of St John the Baptist (24 June) and the Fatima Message by J. Cinta

The Solemnity of the Nativity of St John the Baptist, the only saint whose birth the Church celebrates, emerged in the early centuries to honour his mission to prepare the way of the Lord, and which mirrors Our Lady’s call to repentance and the triumph of her Immaculate Heart.  His prophetic call finds new depth through the message of Fatima.

Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (4 to 12 June)

The Sacred Heart of Jesus stands at the centre of Catholic devotion in June, a month dedicated to contemplating Christ’s burning love for humanity. This Heart encircled by thorns, aflame with mercy, and pierced for our salvation, reveals the depth of God’s desire to draw every soul into intimate union with Him. The Sacred Heart devotion calls the faithful to reparation, trust, and a renewed commitment to love as Christ loves.
