Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (4 to 12 June)
J. Cinta

The Sacred Heart of Jesus stands at the centre of Catholic devotion in June, a month dedicated to contemplating Christ’s burning love for humanity. This Heart encircled by thorns, aflame with mercy, and pierced for our salvation, reveals the depth of God’s desire to draw every soul into intimate union with Him. The Sacred Heart devotion calls the faithful to reparation, trust, and a renewed commitment to love as Christ loves.

Within this spiritual landscape, Padre Pio, often called the Spiritual Father of Fatima, emerges as one of the most radiant witnesses to the Heart of Christ. His entire life was marked by a profound, almost consuming devotion to the Sacred Heart. He offered his sufferings, his confessions, and his tireless prayer acts of reparation; reflecting the very themes proclaimed at Fatima. His stigmata, endured for fifty years, became a living icon of the Heart that bleeds for the world.

Padre Pio’s spirituality also harmonises with the Twin Hearts devotion that began with the visions of St Catherine Laboure. St Catherine saw the Hearts of Jesus and Mary united in one mission of mercy, to bring God’s Love into the world, a truth Padre Pio lived daily through his deep Marian love and constant rosary.

With the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (12 June), Jesus invites us into the deepest mystery of God’s Love, a Love that beats in a real human heart.

Praying the Sacred Heart Novena in June becomes, therefore, a way of entering the same current of grace that shaped Padre Pio’s life, uniting ourselves to Christ’s Heart through the maternal intercession of Mary.
