A Shepherd’s Witness and Call to Reparation


During the liturgy, Bishop Williams shared his personal experience of Fàtima during World Youth Day in Lisbon, reflecting on the enduring relevance of Our Lady’s message for the Church today. He emphasised the importance of the Five First Saturdays Devotion, urging the faithful to embrace this path of reparation for offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.


In a moment of deep spiritual significance, Bishop Williams consecrated the Diocese of Brentwood to the Immaculate Heart, entrusting its clergy, religious, families, and parishes to Our Lady’s maternal protection.

A Day Filled with Devotion and Pilgrimage


An estimated 350 people gathered at Brentwood Cathedral for the celebration, including three communities of religious sisters whose convents belong to the Cathedral parish. Pilgrims travelled from numerous parishes across the Diocese, with around 200 remaining throughout the full day of devotions, which included:

  • Solemn reception and crowning of the Pilgrim Virgin Statue
  • Veneration of the Relics of Saints Francisco and Jacinta
  • Rosary and periods of prayer
  • A talk on the message of Our Lady at Fàtima
  • Extended devotional time before the statue
  • Enrolment and investiture in the Brown Scapular, marking the culmination of the day’s spiritual programme

The Cathedral was filled with an atmosphere of reverence, attentiveness, and heartfelt Marian devotion.

Growing Interest in Parish Pilgrim Statue Visitations


Many attendees expressed strong interest in establishing the Home Pilgrim Virgin Statue Visitation Programme within their own parishes. Hazel Aliganga, Diocesan Promoter and Lead for the programme, was present throughout the day to assist with enquiries, registrations, and initial arrangements. Her guidance ensured that parishes eager to participate could begin preparing for future visitations.
